Must Visit Destination In Wellington

Wellington - The second largest city and the capital of New Zealand is an interesting place, with a lot of dynamism to enjoy, such as going to incredible bars, restaurants, commercial stores, etc. This quiet city with about 600,000 inhabitants and is located at the southern tip of the North Island. Modern, well structured and surrounded by the sea and mountains, the city offers great cultural options, with the advantage that much can be done on foot, since the city is compact and divided into two parts: the lower part of the company, and residential, at the top.

Mount on The Cable Car

Built in the early twentieth century to communicate the flourishing neighborhood of Kelburn with Lambton Quay Street, in the center of the city, today this funicular as well as continue to fulfill its function of taking us to Kelburn, is a popular attraction that brings us closer the beginning of the Botanical Garden. The views from there will not match those of Mount Victoria, but they are certainly great. Also because it is a smaller city than Auckland, it allows you to travel to more places in shorter times. It is a must to go place if you are visiting Wellington.

Wellington Botanical Garden

Botanical Gardens of any city are very famous and just alike this one too is! Occupying 25 hectares of protected forest, the Botanical Garden is a beautiful and pleasant walk downhill, safe from the wind and surrounded by flowers and plants from around the world. Although there are very interesting points during the tour, such as the Victorian greenhouse or the large rose garden, my favorite part arrives at the end, in the Bolton Street cemetery. Its tombs (the oldest dating from 1840) guard the city and offer beautiful views of the houses and hills on the back.

Walk through the port to Te Papa Museum

After the walk through the Botanical Garden, it is necessary to continue walking along the port line to the Te Papa Tongarewa Museum, the National Museum of New Zealand. But beware, it is a museum literally HUGE, so it is advisable to plan very well the day and time we want to see it, to avoid overwhelm. The museum is fantastic. If you are interested in knowing ALL of New Zealand and the Maori culture (history, flora, fauna, art ...) it is the right place, although you will have to reserve a whole day just for it. A must to visit place!

Cuba Street

It is the youngest, alternative and multicultural area of Wellington. Indian restaurants and kebabs coexist with more cool, vintage clothing stores, vinyl records, as well as tobacco and other natural drugs that promise a trip to heaven without breaking the law, only fulfilling the requirement of being over 18. So this means if you are 18 or older than 18 than, you can visit cuba street and have all the fun everyone else is doing there! Despite it is a very small place but it is loaded with fun and frolic! What are you waiting for?
